Millersville University is once again ranked among the Best Regional Universities in the North by U.S. News & World Report, coming in at No. 29 in the latest rankings released this week.

Millersville is also ranked 96th (both public and private) among Regional Universities in the North. Schools are ranked based on their performance across a series of widely accepted quality indicators.

"I view this ranking as a recognition of the effort and quality of the faculty and staff at Millersville University in providing high-impact learning experiences that attract and retain exceptional students." identity,” said President Daniel A. Wubah. "While we cherish these rankings and are always working to improve, we also aim for other success criteria such as reducing the total cost of study for two consecutive years, providing a safe campus , enhance social opportunities for students and promote public service."

US News first published the rankings in 1983. The 2021 edition provides data on more than 1,800 colleges and universities, with rankings for more than 1,400 institutions. Schools reported most of the data used to compile these rankings to US News in an annual survey and were instructed to confirm the accuracy of their data. Ranking data pertains to student and faculty groups before the COVID-19 pandemic, so the impact of COVID-19 on higher education is not reflected in how schools perform overall.

US News uses 17 indicators to evaluate academic quality, with the greatest emphasis on outcomes, especially a college's ability to retain and graduate students. Other factors include class size, undergraduate academic reputation, and how much schools spend on instruction and other educational investments.

Graduate debt levels are a new indicator added to this year's rankings to address families' concerns about tuition affordability and the value of a degree; This factor takes into account the average amount of federal loans among the 2019 graduating class at the undergraduate level, as well as the percentage of graduates who took out federal student loans. To make room for these new measures, US News has reduced the weight given to SAT/ACT scores, high school class rank and alumni giving rates.
